You can start without being a scholar.
One question is enough to begin: what can we learn about our Deen together today?
A sitting of about 10 minutes of Qur'an, 10 minutes of a story or lesson, and 10 minutes of a du'a or conversation is one shape this can take. Change it for the child's age. Stop before it becomes a fight.
If you want a teacher for the Qur'an portion, Darul Ma'rifah Academy teaches live. The conversation at home can stay yours. The children's Qur'an course is for ages 5–15.
